Dee’s Journal Vol.1 EXPLORING ENGLISH

カテゴリー: - hp-admin @ 08時00分00秒

Welcome First Year Students!
Hello first-year students! Welcome to Ozu High School. My name is Deandrea but please call me Dee. I look forward to having English classes with you this year. Starting a new school can be scary at first but there are many exciting things too! I hope you can enjoy your three years here at Ozu High School! Mrs.Yano and I want to share many interesting things with you so please enjoy reading our monthly articles!

When I first came Japan, there were many differences that I noticed between American high schools and Japanese high schools. One thing was the many ceremonies. In Japan you have many ceremonies like graduation ceremony, welcome ceremony, award ceremonies, teachers’ farewell and welcome ceremony and so on. But in America there is only graduation ceremony and award ceremony. No new students’ ceremony. We just start the school year with homeroom class or orientation. There is also no ceremony for teachers because teachers usually don’t change schools. There are many teachers who stay at the same school for 30 or more years! I think the ceremonies in Japan are good because it makes the event seem important. It’s such a happy moment when you can celebrate with your family, friends and teachers. Hopefully the ceremony left you with a good feeling and made you excited to start the new school year.
